Hey everyone!
How goes it everyone? Welcome to my blog. This will be about traveling around the world. Over the past 2 years I was lucky enough to go to China with Plymouth for 2 weeks and study abroad in the U.K. Spring 2011. During my time in the U.K. I got to travel to Spain, the U.K. (obviously), France, Netherlands, Italy and Germany and there are too many stories to talk about in my description so stay tuned!
Ill give you tips and tricks for traveling and tell you as much as I can about these places so that you can visit them too!

I too am writing my blog about travel. I have been all around the world, most of it was due to being the child of two marines, but I am definately thankful for all the amazing places I was able to see. I was just curious, you said you had been to 9 countries in the past 2 years but from your posting it looks like you have only gone with the school or for school funcitons. Do you think that the travel experience differs from that of going with family or by yourself to these places? I have not travelled with the school to other countries but instead been with family living abroad or travelling so I wonder if the experience has the same feel and reward to it.
ReplyDeleteWell actually I was only with school in China but it didnt matter who I was with...China was so beautiful and historically rich that your experience would be the same if you had gone with family. I was in the U.K. for 4 months and their education system is MUCH different than ours. I had more free time there than I have ever had during school. The 40+ American students took advantage of that , and we were able to travel all around the country with each other.
ReplyDeleteYou may not know but Spring Break is 1 month long! During that 1 month March 26 -April 26 I backpacked through Europe. Us American students traveled with each other for weeks, hopping from country to country. I spent a week in Barcelona, 4 days in London, 3 Days in Paris, 3 Days in Amsterdam, a week in Rome and 3 days in Berlin. The only reason I came home on April 19th was because plane tickets to return to London were astronomical because of the impending Royal Wedding.
I have only ever traveled out of the country and that was once - to Canada. However, even though I went with my parents when I was fifteen, I thought it was so much fun. We went to Niagara Falls and hung out around the area. I think that going now with my friends would be much more different because I would be able to go off and do my own thing and explore the area a little bit more.
ReplyDeleteI also went on a cruise to Halifax, Nova Scotia and St. John, New Brunswick in August. That was a BEAUTIFUL trip - Everyone said it would be cold and rainy but it was actually very warm and sunny the whole time (aside from when we were in the middle of the ocean) The only thing is, because it was a cruise we didn't really plan all that well so didn't see much of NS and New Brunswick although what we did see of it I loved. It reminded me a lot of Maine, just more French speaking people. I would never pay to go on a cruise (even though I didn't that time) because I feel you don't get to see much of the culture.
One thing this makes me think about is Jamaica and how when you go to visit Jamaica on vacation - you usually go to resorts so don't really experience the culture (and sometimes it isn't pleasant) I would love to do a trip to Africa, one to Australia, and one to Europe.
One of the biggest reasons I'm not in any rush to start a family is because I have yet to live myself and travel the world, I think it's very important to be influenced by different cultures and understand how the rest of the world lives on a day-to-day basis to truly appreciate my life. I'm excited to see the both of your blog postings (as they are both about travel)
One suggestion I would make Stefan is that you make the comments visible if that is an option instead of having to click a link to open them! :)
